Ricardo Valente opened the discussion between xelerate.tech founder Klaus Straub and general manager Martin Zierheim, along with several IT directors from foreign companies based in Portugal — Markus Sontheimer from ISS World Services, Martin Kolbe from Kuehne + Nagel, and Ursula Soritsch-Renier from Saint-Gobain — plus eDreams ODIGEO's technology director, Carsten Bernhard. The panel focused on "Three ways to start nearshoring in Portugal."
The goal was to encourage discussion and shared experiences among representatives of foreign companies already operating in Portugal, exploring nearshoring opportunities in a stable democracy with a thriving IT ecosystem.
CIOmove takes place in a different location each year. During its stop in Porto, participants got to visit companies that chose the city as their base, including Kuehne + Nagel and eDreams ODIGEO, as well as the University of Porto's Science and Technology Park (UPTEC).
