Last updated: July 2025

xelerate.tech ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal data when you visit xelerate.tech (the "Site") or otherwise interact with us, and describes your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Portuguese law.

Who we are

xelerate.tech is a Portuguese-German company registered in Porto, Portugal, that builds, operates and transfers technology hubs. For the purposes of applicable data protection law, we are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, you can reach us at contact@xelerate.tech.

Data we collect

We may collect and process the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact details you provide through our forms — such as your name, email address, phone number and company.
  • Application data — such as your CV, cover letter, LinkedIn profile and any information you choose to share when applying for a role.
  • Message content — the information you include when you contact us.
  • Technical and usage data — such as IP address, browser type, device information and pages visited, collected via cookies and similar technologies.

How we use your data

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your enquiries and communicate with you.
  • To assess and manage job applications and recruitment.
  • To operate, maintain and improve the Site.
  • To measure audience engagement and analytics, where you have given consent.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

Legal basis for processing

We rely on the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR: your consent (for analytics and marketing cookies); the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request (for recruitment and enquiries); our legitimate interests in operating and improving our business; and compliance with legal obligations.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with trusted service providers who process data on our behalf — for example email delivery, hosting, analytics and anti-spam services — under appropriate contractual safeguards. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we ensure adequate protection through mechanisms such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Recruitment data is retained for the duration of the selection process and, where you consent, for future opportunities. Enquiry data is retained for as long as needed to handle your request and our related legitimate interests.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Request data portability.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority (CNPD).

Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.
